Old Testament vs New TestamentDoes this sound familiar? The Old Testament dealt with the Jews and The Law, the New Testament was primarily for the Gentiles and operated under Christ's Grace. The New Testament Church is not to be concerned with The Old Law, which was abandoned at The Cross, but was to emphasize Christ's Grace. Almighty God had been unsuccessful with the Jews, who had a history of sinful ways. Thus, Our Heavenly Father had to put out a new plan, bringing the Gospel to the Gentiles who are the non-Jewish people. Almighty God had done His best with the Jewish people, but when they rejected His Son, He decided to extend the plan of salvation to all the world, all men, whosoever will, to accept and have the peace of knowing that they would go to heaven when they die. It has been so long since I have heard that taught that it sounds foreign to me. I hope that it is not taught anymore because it makes the God of the Bible a liar, a covenant breaker and a promise breaker. Let me explain why this is true. Ask any Christian lawyer who is a student of the Bible and he will tell you that the Bible is technically written. In other words the contracts specified in it are lawfully binding. The New Covenant began at the death of Christ. Many years after the New Covenant was in force the book of Hebrews was written. Please note the following quote. Hebrews 8:8-10 Let's take the above and carefully examine it in light of what most Christians believe. Remember this is a restatement of an unconditional contract made by God himself. These verses are a direct quote from Jeremiah 31:31-33. Here the writer of Hebrews repeats and promotes the idea that God has made a covenant with two separate entities, the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In verse 9 he makes sure that what he just said could not be misused and spiritualized by making sure that the reader understands that he is talking about the physical people who God led out of Egyptian captivity. In verse 10 he tells us what most Christians are totally unable to tell you if you ask them. What is the New Covenant. Well, here it is book, chapter and verse. It is the Law of God written on the heart. Then he re-emphasized who the covenant is made with, the house of Israel, which includes all 12 tribes. There is no mention of adding in any other people! That would be a violation of Daniel 2:44 if he had. Now the next step is to ask yourself what group of people, since the death of Christ, have demonstrated that they have the Law of God written on their hearts and have fulfilled all the prophecies about themselves? Some people try to pit law against grace or say that the law is gone and now we live under grace. But the two are inseparable. Let's say that you are pulled over for speeding. You deserve a ticket. The officer, who should write you a ticket, decides to let you go with a warning. What has he just given to you? He has given you grace. If there were no law because it had been done away then he could not give you grace because he also could not give you a ticket. The destruction of the law destroys grace. Matthew 5:17 and what did he fulfill? Luke 24:44 So you see he did not do away with the law he only fulfilled what was prophesied for him to accomplish. Only the parts that were added 430 years after the promises were nailed to the cross as pointed out in this article. There is more to this. If you would like to see more email me.
