There are five verses in Revelation that mention a Lake of Fire. This lake is mentioned in the midst of much symbolism. Is the lake of fire an actual lake with fire burning in it? Is it possible that the lake of fire is symbolic for something else? Well the Bible does not make us guess. Below are listed the five verses found in Revelation 19 and 20 that mention the lake of fire. In two of those verses the Bible tells us just what the lake of fire represents. See if you can find it.

Revelation 19:20
Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Revelation 20:10
The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Revelation 20:14
Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Revelation 20:15
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Did you see it? When one is thrown into the lake of fire it is the second death. The lake of fire is imagery for the second death. The idea that fire is involved goes right along with the parable of the wheat and the tares. The tares or the evil are removed first and bundled and burned.
